Permanent Services

Customers applying for new construction services (no existing electric, water, or gas service) must first provide a copy of their City of Tuscumbia building permit. This can be obtained from the building department. They will then present two items of identification (preferably a driver's license and social security card), fill out an application for service, and pay deposits and service fees. Each service will need to be inspected before permanent utilities are acquired.



Temporary Poles

Customers will use temporary electric poles supplied by the Electric Department. Temporary poles will only be allowed for a maximum time of ninety days. Customers must provide a copy of their City of Tuscumbia building permit, present two items of identification, fill out an application for service, and pay all deposits and service fees.

 


Existing Services

All customers must apply in person for all services. No applications will be taken by phone, fax, or otherwise. If renting or leasing, you will be required to provide a copy of the rental agreement or lease arrangement. If you own your home you must provide proof of ownership. Customers will provide two items of identification (preferably a driver's license and social security card), will fill out an application for service, and pay all deposits and fees. Service is usually connected the same day if applied for by 2:00 p.m. If you have a gas service, we will light your pilot light if the customer is at the residence when we arrive to initiate service. If the customer is not at home, we will unlock the gas meter and leave in the off position.



Commercial & Industrial Services

The company applying for service should send someone authorized to sign for the business. The customer will bring a copy of the Tuscumbia business license, which can be obtained at the City Clerk's Office. The customer will then provide identification, fill out an application for service, and pay all deposits and fees.

 


Transfers

Customers transferring from one residence to another within the service area will provide a copy of the new rent receipt, lease arrangement, or proof of ownership. The transfer fee of $25.00 will be paid before processing.

 


Discontinuing Service

Customers discontinuing service may do so in person, by fax, or email. A signature is required.
